Restorers in Hampshire

Hi, I'm new to the site, my partner and I have just got hold of a 260Z which has been sat around for 3 years doing nothing, her ex has done the bare minimum to get it through an MOT, ie. it runs, brakes and the lights work, but it needs a fair amount of TLC to bring it back to a useable state.
Can anyone recommend a restorer / garage which does restoration work, in the Winchester / Andover area who doesn't cost the earth ?:)

Madget,
Welcome. As for a restorer in your area, I don't know. If you look in the links, there are some people/companies that do work on Zeds. If the body needs work, (though I see it passed a MOT so can't be too bad) then the mechanicals are fairly straight forward for most garages to do the work. We all love pics here, so if you can put some up that would be great. If you are new to Zeds, people here are friendly and willing to give you advice.

Cheers
Ian

Only picked it up on Wednesday so don't have any pics as yet... I'll have to get down to the motor faactors to get some decent cleaning products before I take her picture, she looks like she slept in a ditch at the moment :)

The body isn't too bad, but the interior needs loads of work, the gear box needs some attention (jumps out of 5th when it feels like it) and the cooling system needs a bit of an overhaul. I'll probably get the brakes / suspension / steering rack uprated while its in for repair too... bugger that's starting to sound expensive

Most parts can be found second hand (e.g. door trims) and Mr F on this forum can supply all the clips for this ( as well as loads of other bits). If the seats are ripped, see if you can get hold of a second hand pair. There are retriming kits available. Have you considered getting bits done a bit at a time so the cost is spread? If I was you, as the 'box jumps out of 5th, its going to have to come out to be looked at, I would consider getting hold of another gearbox which you know the history (e.g. maybe from some one on here) and put that in.

Have you considered doing some of the work yourself......its a good way of knowing your Zed, so you know what you need.

Is the 260 a 2 seater or a 2+2 ?

Right, I will shut up now.

She's a 2 seater, in pearlescent white with blue racing stripes down the centre from front to back... very non-standard, but a scheme I intend to stick with...
She's also had a sunroof fitted at some point in the past.

I see Auto-Active do a gear box for £300 which isn't too bad, seats are ok, just need a good clean, it's more the panelling, carpets etc which need replacement, I'll probably do most of that stuff myself when I get time. Just want to get it checked out properly by someone who knows their stuff first !

If I can get the major mechanicals done for me, I'm happy to tinker with the rest... as you say, it's pretty straightforward stuff. It's just been a long time since I did anything under a bonnet myself !

Cheers

Nice rare model Terry.

Congrats on the purchase, you will enjoy fixing her up and getting to know your car.

Best of luck finding a restorer.
