What grade of engine oil do you all recommend for a L series engine I use 20/50 at the moment but think this maybe a little too thick. I was thinking of using 15/40 or 10/40 what do you guys use.
Thanks
Nick

Such a personal topic - oil preferences! I have always used 20W/50 in L series engines. THey are not what you would classify as modern engines and, unless freshly built and blueprinted, don't have the fine tolerances associated with later engine types like the Z32.

I would have two 20/50 recommendations for you:
1) 76 NASCAR oil: a USA product from a company that has continued to research and improve the properties of mineral based oils. As used in genuine NASCAR race cars!
2) Millers Classic20W/50 (mineral based) or Millers Classic Sport 20W/50 (if you crave a semi-synthetic). Both contain modern additives and viscometric technology (whassat?).

Just be carefull with that" Genuine Nascar "oil. It is  suitable for cars going round left hand corners only.
