OBDII Connectors

I'm after a OBDII connector (car side) for my engine transplant. Does anyone know of a car with a neat, small, preferably screw mounted type (ideally with a plastic cover) that I may be able to source one from?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Cheers

What is one of them?

Its an On Board Diagnostics (OBD) connector of the latest generation ie second (II). From what I have understood from a previous thread on here, these connectors, that are to plug in manufacturer diagnostic terminals, are mandatory from 2000 on all petrol cars and are to be within a certain distance of the cars steering wheel. The connectors should be shaped in a big D with two rows of 8 pins.

When the car is first setup I wish to programme/reprogramme my engine ECU without taking it out of the car, the easiest way I can do this is to install an OBDII connector so that my laptop can plug in and remap my setup adhock, all Fast and the Furious like :D :D

2000 on, take your pic lol ;)
Ok, if you find out what car you need it from I’ll see what I can find ya :)

Steve,

You're engine and ECM didn't come with one?!? I'd ring up the guy you got it from and ask for one. That should be considered a standard part of the wiring harness. I would think any GM vehicle would have one although I'm not certain of the requirements on the east side of the pond the west side has had them since 1997.

Hi Bill,

Unfortuneately not, one of those items that I somewhat stupidly (another lesson learned) wasn't specific about when I imported the engine and box. I have thought about getting another piece of the loom imported but without actually looking at how the loom connects together I’m a bit blind really.

It doesn't seem to be a major pain to wire up to the ECU provided I pick up from the correct connectors on the engine loom (located) and OBDII connectors seem to be all the same, so I hope to lift the female end from a car over here. Well that’s the plan anyway!

LOL!

Hope you had a great Christmas!
