more power

Hi,

My 240z has a stock L24, stock diff and stock 4speed gearbox (us version), the only upgrades are a 6to1 exhaust and triple 40dcoe.

I would like to have more power. What is the way to go, in a not to expensive way...my idea was to have a perf cam. will I gain with a stock gearbox and diff. There is a 280z( also from US) for a good price, is it interesting to take some parts, like the diff and gearbox?

My engine (L24) was rebuild 5 years ago and has very few miles, so I'd rather not open it or change head and pistons...

Last thing, I am looking for rear lights (all red, us version) in a very good shape.

Thanks for any advice,

From Belgium,

Greg

A performance camshaft coupled with some modest head work is your next logical step.

What differential ratio is fitted? You would gain performance by fitting a 5 speed gearbox and a 3.9:1 differential. The 280ZX R200 from UK 82/83 is preferred, but you would then need 260Z output shafts, back plate and "moustache" bar to fit in a 240Z. The USA 280Z may be a useful donor if it is a manual version, but diff ratio is likely to be only 3.5:1.
