Major brown moment in the Zed

Been using me V8 240z daily now n everything seems fine so far (within reason lol)
Saying that over the last few days the throttle pedal had felt a little strange, like it had become stiffer then normal some how.
Thought nothing of it tho, like you do

Anyway time for work,.... zeds happily burbling away outside n off we go
Get one mile down the road till me fav clear spot approaches.
Time for some fun … so I give it large n plant it in 2nd
Away we go, revs race high, time for 3rd , foot hard again to the floor, vrrrmmm now pulling like a train.

Roundabout approaching time to slow !!

Back off n on with the brakes, but things went wrong at that point

Sh1111t the throttle was stuck fully open !!!

Panic moment over, bang the clutch to the floor, that should do it…. but then the engine revs its t1ts off till the rev limiter cuts in. quick crazy fumble for the keys eventually kills the engine n we cost to a stop. I’m just glad no one was in front of me at the time that fa sure.

Anyway after freeing the pedal up its time to try a restart, but it wouldn’t have any of it.
Thoughts of blown engine now going through my mind. Not happy. :(
Glad to say eventually it did restart n off I sheepishly drove to work. Yes no more then a wisp of throttle either this time!!

Got home this evening n everything now seems ok with no damage done. Quick squirt of oil on the linkage and pedal/cable area and things are all working fine again.
That’ll teach me not to check things in future

Ps, apologies go to any local residents for redlining my car outside your house at 7.30am, I’m sorry lol, it was the car not me, and that’s the truth this time

Sleep tight zzzzzzz :D

Great stoy mate, but i can equal that and this will crack you up!

I buy new Nissan Primera T spec. Full auto cruize control ie it brakes and accelerates itself according to what you have pre set the speed for once any car, van, bus etc. has moved out of the way it accelerates back to the pre set speed until it sees the next car and then brakes for the pre-determined distance I had set etc.

Being a typical bloke (so im told by the wife) I travel down a 40 mph road and following a car at about 45 mph. For some unknown reason I set the speed at 90 mph (dont ask why, it's a bloke thing) I then proceed to follow said car and thinking "this is really clever" until said car goes around roundabout and my car obviously thinks road is clear and goes into kickdown mode accelerating flat out onto prementioned roundabout that has cars on it and I find myself playing dodgems with a £21k car that is half an hour old. Needless to say when I arrive home all the wife can say is "have you read the instructions?"

Ok, it did say "only use on motorways and large streches of straight roads"...geeze I hate women some times!

I agree a brown and a yellow moment. Glad all is well now.

The stock z throttle linkage has also been known to get stuck too on occasion.

Are you using a cable directly from the TB to the pedal? Maybe it got caught somewhere?

Paul, you should know better  .... esp bein all mech AA minded ;)
Don't they teach you those things :D

Steve, the min the throttle stuck, the min I knew it was going to flow :D

George
My car retains the std pedal but uses a cable now.
Not sure why it did it, but can only guess it "dried up" :conf2:

Soon see tomorrow morning :D
