Does anyone know what cars in the UK (if any) used the LD 28 cranks.

Try USA diesel Maxima. NO UK cars had this crank as far as I am aware....

If you want to order new, I can sort this for you (probably).
 
Thanks guys, I was gonna look through a couple of scrap yards but probably wont bother and just get one from a friend in the us. If you look on some land rover sites they seem to use the l series diesel engine but i'm not sure what from
 
Apparently they were in Patrols and ebro's over here so I might scour a few scrapyards after all
