I am thinking of putting a turbo on my 240z how much power did the janspeed turbo conversion put out and what is the most power you can get out of it. what power can you get from pressure fed carbs or is it better to go for injection so I can change the fuel mapping and pulse widths. Any info or old articles would be great I feel a project coming on!

The Janspeed turbo kits added approx. 30% bhp and torque to the standard cars in either carburetted or injection configurations. Lowering the compression ratio and making the fuelling safe for higher boost can improve on these figures. However, by modern standards, the Janspeed systems are very crude and have some recognsed problems - most noteably fuel distribution in the carb version of the manifold.

Performance figures were very impressive for their day - on a turbo 260Z, 3.5 seconds was lopped off the 0-60 mph time, a massive 17 seconds off the 0-100 mph and 2.6 seconds off the quarter mile elapsed time (down to 15.3 seconds at 95 mph). 280ZX improvements were almost as good.
