...can anyone help this fella whom i met via ebay, who has the following problem?....

hi simon this is the problem i got...................
when you drive through gears changing at about 2.5 revs and up to about 45 mph then no problem, drive it properly by the time you got into 5 it feels like going to run out of petrol revs die put foot on clutch will go to tick over ok or if it does die it will start on a couple of turns drive off again go through the gears and again starts stutering and dieing like running out of fuel.
we have changed so far inline fuel filter, airfilter someone befors has changed the fuel pump put another carb on and that has just been stripped and cleaned its had new fuel tank by the looks of it and it still does it.
only thing we can think of is that needs a seperate electric fuel pump as had similar problem with a street rod with a rover v8 stuck a pump on it then it was ok.
what do you think could be ...................................... cheers Dickie

Thanks,Simon.

hi simon, it does sound like a fuel restricting problem.

blocked,kinked or collapsed fuel line?

Also check the fuel pickup in the tank as it's a replacement, (if you don't know who done the job you don't know how clean they where) Most carbs have a small mesh filter at the main supply entry as well. It sounds to me like a fuel pump problem though when all is said and done, unlikely to be jetting etc, as something that badly out of wack would run horribly at idle as well.. Oh just about forgot to mention the float bowl needle,,,if it's sticking closed it's a classic symptom. Saying all that do Nissan's have floatbowls!! Canadian here used to dealing with Holley double pumpers!
:D :D anyway hope you get some use of all this drivel ! ;)

Not sure if it is relevant, but make sure the fuel filler cap vent is not blocked. Got caught that way some years ago..boy did we have some fun finding it.
