Hi, A strange request I know.

Does anyone live near Milton Keynes, Bedford or Northampton have a 240Z/260Z I could view?

I'm considering buying one and have found what seems to be a good one, problem is it's in Cornwall. Before I trek down there (8 hr journey), I figure it might be worth looking at a good one more locally so I've got an idea of what I'm looking at before I get there!

Any help much appreciated.

When do you need to look at this other car by?
Am in Aylesbury so not too far from MK
Could bring my 260z over that way next weekend (weather permitting) for you to look at
Not saying its a good one mind.... or stock :D

Offer is there if you find nothing else in time

Thanks, very much appreciated.

I'm not sure on timing but it's not a desperate rush (yes, it's the Silver LHD one) as I can't view the car for a while anyway. Not ideal but what will be will be.

Unfortunately I'm away next weekend or that would be ideal. I'm happy to come over to you if we can sort something out.

Yes, that's the one. Any info on it is much appreciated!

Its a very solid good car. very good. I can't see how its 8 hours from you? Maybe 6 tops? I don't think you'll find better, its the 'one that got away' for me. Its at the upper end of US imports, Its had new trim fitted in places inside, thats how good it is, the only thing I can really say about it. No obvious soft spots in any of the usual areas, I'm sure it'll have some, everyone does now I think. It was a Californian car, then moved up to Washington state some years ago, came over through Gordanio cars, he deals in lots of interesting older cars. I'd say its not had a hard life at all and its wearing all its original panels still.

Would still need to be over a weekend as working days, maybe another?
Let us know how you get on as the offer is still there

8 hours might be a bit OTT but I obviously I would be sticking to the NSL;)

When you say "upper end" do you mean condition or price wise?

The boot slam panel seems to have had some kind of repair, but other than that the pics look good. That said if I was selling then chances are I'd be putting the best pics up.

I need to have a long hard think because if I go to view it's with the intention to buy it, not just to assess it.

My other concerns aren't about that car itself but about whether it will be the keeper I'm looking for:

a) I was actually looking for a 260Z 2+2 as I wanted something that can seat 3. I've already got an MX5 that doesn't get used as much as I'd like due to only 2 seats.

b) Will the bodywork be OK if I use it as a semi-daily driver or will it start to rot? This purchase was part of a plan to replace my daily driver with a smaller, cheaper car and a usable classic.

If the silver car was down the road I could view it and the condition would be part of the decision process. Now it's reversed and I need to make a decision before contemplating the road trip. I could normally get my Dad to hop over the border and assess it but he's just had a hip replacement and it's about 2 hrs from him so that's not going to happen, hence a shed load of internet research!

The 2+2 isn't in the same league as a 240z, if you just want something to use as a semi daily driver maybe you'll be better off getting a 2+2, they're no way near as desirable and half of that budget would more than likely get a very good example of that particular breed?

This should help....

Thanks Franky.

Those pics are food for thought, I'm assuming they are from the US Dealer? Did you spot it even before it got to these shores.

Yes, the dealer then did a few little jobs on it. Long story but I had paid for it, however lloydstsb had an issue which meant my cash was 'missing' for 10 days. In which time the seller had another buyer lined up.

You won't find a better one for the cash.

Well, problem solved. Car sold over the weekend.

I'd lined up my Dad to look at it sometime this week as he felt up to it but delaying making a decision cost me.

I can't help but thinking a 2+2 will be far more useful as a semi-daily however not sure how often they come up?

Any ideas what a good 260z 2+2 goes for nowadays? Difficult to find ones for sale/sold to see prices.

Sorry I couldn't help sooner but was working sat and Sunday was a total washout
Good luck should you find another

Thanks. No worries, I'd been away last week and had thought the car might be around for a while yet so hadn't got my act in gear.

Would still be interested in looking over yours some time if that's still OK?

Sure, offer is still there.
Plan on taking mine off the road soon, but if i'm out n about over the weekend you are welcome. pm us your contact number and can give you a bell then
