Hi , Just thought you might be interested in this , July 16th/17th 2011 will see the first Santa Pod Raceway promotion , Dedicated to the history of drag racing in the uk , it will feature cars bikes with links back to the roots of the sport back in the early 1960s . although it will have more than a hint of a Califorian atmosphere, it will also pay tribute to its roots of sprinting and hill climbing . Hence there will be a particulary British "Goodwood " feel about it . The Brighton Speed Trials represents a very important part of drag racing history . The Americans still refer to Madeira Drive as the worlds oldest drag strip . Its not technically correct but we all know what they mean . Certainly the father of British Drag Racing Sydney Allard had Brighton in his sights when he built Europe's first dragster - the 1961 Allard Chysler . This day should be a step back in time for some of us who have seen the sport go in leaps and bounds from those first days of British drag racing . And of great interest to those who missed it because the were not born . I think this is one not to be missed .

Regards
Phil :driving:
