Saturday morning daze, let's top up the leaky HICAS, put some screenwash in, teflon spray for the sticky aerial - you know the sort of thing. Titivate and potter since it's sunny (or was) and it's been a while since since this last got done 'cos it's been bloody cold (wimp).

Tum ti tum ti tum, pop the bonnet :Z32: water glug glug, okey doky, rad cap looks tight, goody goody, red stuff intothe HICAS pot (where the bloody hell is it still leaking from? mental note book in to Jeff next time I've got some time to spare). hmmm hmm hmmmm screw top back on, wipe drips. Now then - aerial? I know, just check the oil while I'm here - it's going into Nissan for a service next week, but might as well be sure.

 something's not quite right - surely there should be a roundy yellowy thing sticking out of that empty hole? Where the £$%* has that gone? and how?

And that, my liege, is how I found out that you can drive a Zed for weeks without a dipstick! What a dipstick

Thanks, Mike for the advice - phew.

Ring ring - hallo mate, could you count the number of Zeds in your garage and then count the number of dipsticks. Subtract one from the other and send me the remainder please hohohoho:p
