Big bang theory

LOL nasty!

Sod NOS, it looks way too dodgy, blowers the way to go.

How exactly does that happen anyway?

Nick (Zed2k), it was a pleasure knowing you mate.... :)

At least I'll go out in a Blaze of glory and going Really FAST as Steve shouts wait for me and my carbon roof!!!!!

LOL!!!!

LOL

As a great pundit once said

"To finish first -- first you have to finish" or something like that

Nitrous explosions whilst pleasing to the crowds, unfortunately attract no points in the Z drag challenge.

Nice knowing you though -- I am sure I can manage some magazine space for your swansong:devil:

LMAO!

I think NOS explosions are worth 10 points easy, we can run a new suicide league along side the drag league for "most dangerous ways to go fast".

Nick if you're really going to blow up then take of your exhaust first will you, shame to waste it, drop it off at mine on the way.

I can already see pmac with his disc cutter at the end of the drag strip, ready to collect any remains he can salvage....

EEK ! Been using Nitrous for 15 years in American (canadian) big blocks and never had a prob?? I'm thinkin buddy from the hood had his timing advanced so far he was already into time travel !!! Hence the backfire into the intake plenum,,,,gotta make you go daaaaamn though don't it? :D :D

Russ

Basicly what happens is when you have your valve timing advanced to a great degree the intake valves are open well before TDC and when your ignition timing is set the same ,,,you get an open intake valve, a very hot spark, and an intake system full of fuel, and the planets best known oxidizer ( accelerant ) oxygen and Nitrous,,,,,,,Large bomb Most times n2o is very safe, I've used it for ages without probs but like Mr F can tell you, when you start gettin radical with it you have to keep in mind that your toying with stuff that can and will make your engine shrapnell !:D

Jees, so you'd have thought he'd have a problem when it was running without the nos?

Interesting though, do you ever have a problem with backfires i.e. nos in hot exhaust??

You can do , I think the biggest problem is that alot of systems are not regulated, that is they just dump bottle pressure,,this can be above 1200psi !! With that much gas being literally dumped on the engine it's not hard to imagine explosions when like i said you start getting serious with it. BTW my dear ol dad has a john deere ride on mower that runs nitrous,,,,you wanna see funny/scary? Hopefully the last time in my life i see a lawnmower doing a smoking burnout on the street in front of my parents house,,,,
It was something to see though :D

I did some work for a guy a few years ago on his tubbed big block 55 Chevy. With the bulk of the car complete he decided to have an inaugural fire up of the engine Well for some unfathomable reason he managed to arm and operate the Nitrous relays allowing a fair charge through the engine whilst cranking the car over. When the car eventually fired up there was a huge bang and flash under the car. After the dust had settled he noticed that his brand new exhaust boxes had peeled like bananas. Boy did I laugh :D

with all the accidents that seem to becoming more evident as this discussion moves on i would of assumed that various blow off valves would be situated at a sensible points on the inlet and exaust side or am i just being niaive?

I was of course only looking at the High Octain type of bang! After all I've still got my own video collection some with hand written labels!

So if we see "kleenex" sponsorship decals on your car next season we will all know what you've been "working on" over the winter.
