Hey ZHead ! I think you have to go to "user cp" on home page and then upload from there,,,mind it's been awhile!!

Absolutely nothing to do with me :)

I can't see why it would and then wouldn't work. Let me know if it disappears again so I can investigate.

Now then, now then, now then.........

This Linux stuff :D

As an ex IBMer and having sold millions and millions of pounds worth of Software to multi national corporates, it is very evident that the "big boys" are treating Linux very seriously. Thousands of major mission critical applications worldwide run on it.

As you point out, not so many "individuals" use it but ......... here is the game plan :

If everyone in a big organisation uses Linux on a central server and just uses a browser on their desktop they do not need Windoze licences.... BIG saving. If the desktop has a portal on which happens to be Big and Blue in flavour then they don't need MS Office licences either ...... BIG Saving.

Kinda knives out time from Big Blue to MS. IBM are the biggest commercial investor in Linux in the world.

Ranting over :D

LOL @ their user base comment :D

In M$ defence, you pay your licence fee, up front, get yourselfs some cheapo HP thin clients, server 2003 and such, job done and it cost X amount.

Linux, oooh its free, until you run up lots of support bills and waste loadsa time faffing around trying to integrate everything :D You pay for it after.

As much as the world hates Microsoft they make a good OS, I have Fedora on my machine and although I'm finishing up my software engineering degree (as in I should be able to use a computer just about) I still cannot reliably work a linux distro, I've yet to get a soundcard working in it :D

Horses for courses but I still don't think Linux can hold anything over MS as a home user OS :)

Open source is kind of a myth now - lots of companies CHARGE for Linux because they support it. IBM are seeing lots and lots of their middleware ordered to run on a Linux platform too. Like it or lump it it is growing fast.

Have to go along with the home user comments though, not really suitable for your average desktop pc, but major major companies use it (have just put a mission critical system into orange running linux). Bear in mind that Linux is just another Unix effectively like AIX, HPUX, Asterix, Obelix, Weetabix et al.

The MS vs IBM thing is way more radical than your average Jihad, it is literally a religious war, people get very passionate and fired up about it. No prizes for guessing which side of the fence I am from :)

Will shut up now :)
