Anyone have payroll or HR experience?

I know its a strange request but I have see advice on a substitute pet dog medicine which is avaiable from a chemist given on a car forum before.

Basically I was very shocked why I paid nearly 3 times as much tax as normal this month.
I then discovered under the heading Basic Backpay Offset, I was paid nearly £1000. Does any one have an idea of what that could be?

My wife is a finance director and she had trouble understanding that question lol, She said you may of had a pay rise that was back dated so paid more tax than normal, She advised you to ask your own pay department for the correct answer.

If you got paid more then you would get taxed more that is just the way it is .
