Air Intake

On which years or models did the front end change to lower the air intake to below the front bumper. I've been looking for day's trying to find a description or build up a log of types without success, I probably should go out and buy a book if anyone could recomend one.

U.K. spec 240Z and 260Z models are all the same with the primary grille being above the bumper and with the area below the bumper open, but smaller intake area. USA 280Z is similar, but lower valence made deeper to increase lower intake area. The 280ZX (from 1978 on) has grille intake below the bumper only. The small gap between bumper and bonnet should be sealed with a rubber strip attached to the underside of the bonnet.
Radiator depth was increased from 1975 onwards on the 260Z with a change of design of the front crossmember.
U.K. Z models all get their induction air via holes at the side of the radiator support panel and therefore are fed with air potentially warmed by the engine compartment. The 280ZX (and USA 280Z) receive cold air from an input in the front RH inner wing (below the headlamp cowl.

A 200sx isn't what i'm looking for, I wrote 200's as in Twohundreds, to display my interest in the entire 200 range ie; 240, 260, 280. The classic Datsun in a family friendly 2+2 format.

I thought you were refering to 200sx's as well! that's why I included a link for their site in the "Wanted" thread.
The collective term for 240Zs, 260Zs etc. is usually "Zs" or "ZEDs" or even "ZEEs" if you're from the U.S. If you're refering to the later ZX models then they're also sometimes called ZEDS but more often "ZED-EXs" <img src="http://www.zclub.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
