Thanks to everyone for their advice. Considering the complexity of the VR38 swap and the possible unknowns, I’ve decided to stick to the heritage of the car and go with the RB. I’ll keep you informed as the stages progress.

The work is being carried out by the GTR heritage centre, they’re the ones who’ve proposed putting in the VR38 instead of the RB26. They need to see if it’s viable first which requires some more investigation on their part. Love the idea but not sure how complicated it would be but they can do...

That engine needs lots of work, the money is invest in rebuilding that would be better spent on a better engine

The cost doesn’t bother me, I’ve already paid for the RB26 but am considering upgrading to the VR38. My engine installers said they can make it work with mods.

So how are all these Zs driving around with RB25 and LS without issue. I don’t want to fall foul of the law but I want it to be strong enough to take 600hp. Any advice would be helpful thanks

Was planning to get it on the road this year but Covid put an end to that. Not been working on it for the last 3 months as the restorer has been closed. Going to restart very soon. I’d say we’re 40% through the rust repairs. Still a long way to go!

Hi guys, I’m wanting to install 240z taillights on my 260z 2+2. I’ve already got the lights and the surround. Should I be able to get them to fit with some modifications? Or are the back plates different sizes for the 2+2?
