In my hunt for a good tailgate for my 260 2+2 I have come across someone that can make them in carbon if anyone is interested he is saying 600-£700 for them but won’t make unless I we are able to establish it’s more than just me that wants one. So is anyone interested ?

Does anybody know availability or can you give me part numbers for the rear inner wheel bearings, dust covers etc etc as all of mine has been misplaced and we want to fit up rear coilovers asap.

Im pretty sure i will be going down the gaz route now but not this week got rot to attend to.

That could be great I wil have a word with my mate see if he thinks it will be easier.

Totally agree but I like to plan ahead so I can budget as much as possible and I've never come up against so many different ways of doing coilovers. Oh and the body looks worse with a bit more digging but hopefully get more time next week with my fabricator mate.

Right I want to convert to coilovers to be low it's not for handling no track just for the looks. Who where and how? Cheap option full kit option I just can't get my head round it. I know it needs welding etc but that's not a problem would love an off the shelf kit if possible help it's annoying me.

It's going to be a fairly big job but using z car arches so that's 2 areas dealt with straight away. Some of the previous plates have started to rust so it's going to have to be cut right back. Worth it in the end.

Back from blasting. Not to bad.

A few of the panels stripped and repaired had some serious amounts of filler to get out in places where dents hadn't been fixed. Deleted front indicator and all badge holes so it's smoother. Also decided we are going to do a rear cage as not having seats any longer.

Will update as soon as back. The panels have all been stripped to bear metal and repaired where needed so if that's any indication of the rest should be ok.

Wouldn't be a bad idea but I may have a couple sourced now so make a good one from the pair rather than starting from scratch on one that wont fit.

Can someone please give me the dimensions from a tailgate on a 260/240 please so i can compare to my 2+2 tailgate to see how much work is involved to modify one to fit. the overall sizes and the screen size would bee appreciated.

We have an auto sucker that pulls oil up the dipstick tube it works just as well as sump plug if you get the oil warm it's easier and less mess you can change oil and filter without jacking up a car or removing under trays , most modern mercs don't have sump plugs now. Not a lover of non dip...

Well it should be a genuine 260 hose I've only just bought the car and stripped it down ready for blasting so you could have them both to be sure you have a matching pair.
