Torque setting - valve cover bolts - '71 Fairlady Z?

I put on a new gasket and the instructions tell me to torque the cover bolts to 30 inch-pounds, which is about 2.5 foot-pounds by the conversion table. Local Z guys said 10 flt-lbs. I compromised at about 4 ft-lbs, which seemed nice and snug. I'm wondering if I made them too tight, but if...

    1971 Fairlady Z/L

Our 1971 FairladyZ/L on one of the rare days it actually ran for a while .... this car is a mechanically fragile like no vehicle I've ever owned. Always something broken, even after a complete restoration. But real fun to drive when it runs.

Baffled by fuel problem in 1971 Fairlady/Z - can someone help?

I get fuel at the filter if I suck on the line from the tank. That's as far as it goes; the pump isn't pumping .. or sucking strong enough to pull it from the tank. These cars don't have an electric pump at the tank. No fuel at the carbs. Carbs are fine; just rebuilt last year by Z-Therapy...

Baffled by fuel problem in 1971 Fairlady/Z - can someone help?

Tank has probably never been off and at my advanced age, I'm not up to taking on the task. Unless I can find a good Z mechanic in the Portland Oregon area who can work on it, I guess it will just go back on jack stands and get covered up. I've spent way too long, and too much money, chasing...

Baffled by fuel problem in 1971 Fairlady/Z - can someone help?

I meant to say also it was me sucking the gas into the filter, not the pump pulling it.

Baffled by fuel problem in 1971 Fairlady/Z - can someone help?

The car was running fine. Parked in garage for a week. Wouldn't start. No fuel getting to carbs. Thought it was original (1971) fuel pump, so replaced it and filter. Huffed back through gas line to tank and it "bubbles" fine with 1/2 tank in it now. Sucked gas into new filter with no...

    Disconnecting power to clock?

I've one of these under the hood, but I'd like to avoid opening the hood all the time.

    Disconnecting power to clock?

The 1971 FairladyZ has a "rally clock" driven by an oscillator, which drains the battery in a week when it's sitting in the garage. I'd like to disconnect the power to the oscillator. Is there a quick and easy way to do it without getting into the fuse block? Thanks!

How can one tell the difference?

Sent photos to the American distributor for Minilite. He says after examining them they are most likely the alloy version of the mag wheels so not a problem.

Lugnut torque for Minilite Mag wheels?

Reply from Minilite Sent photos to the American distributor for Minilite. He says after examining them they are most likely the alloy version of the mag wheels so not a problem. He also said they should have lug nuts torqued to 70-80 ft lbs, not the 60 specified in the Nissan shop manual. He...

How can one tell the difference?

How can I tell if the Minilites on my Z are alloy or magnesium? They are marked 14 x 6 1/2 x 13 and also marked 6-76 SM.
