Hi Huw! Sorry, will do photo tomorrow.
It looks like the leak is also at the block BUT I have a good pressure reading at the dash.
Quite a lot of oil being lost.
Cheers all!

Hi all! It's been a while, which means I haven't spent any money. So that's nice.
I have a leak in what looks like an oil sensor? Just above the filter?
Any idea as to a good fix?
Many thanks and stay well all!
JB
Thanks Alik.
I certainly did mean valve cover. Just a slip of the typing whilst thinking about other things 👍
I don't have any of those tools but will put those jobs on the list for next time.
How would I tell if the cam is stock or not? Codes etc?
Many thanks!
Cheers 🍻
PS Progress so far...
Excellent! Thanks Jon. I thought so too. The original owner was a professional extreme rally driver from Holland. Paris-Dakar type stuff so I feel like it has all been tinkered with before.
Onwards and upwards!
Took the cylinder head off to have a look, replace gasket and paint the cover.
Looks bloody good!
Very clean and gasket looked good too!
What do you think?
Cheers 🍻
She's ALIIIVEE. ALIIIIVEEEE!!
One metre of hose for 6 euros and we're back in business!
PHEW!
I thought this repair was sure to bankrupt me when the breakdown happened!
I'm going to replace all hoses on the fuel circuit as a precautionary measure and have ordered cylinder head gasket and oil...
Sooooo, it was a fuel leak.
I thought the initial smell was more petrol than oil but I guess the fuel cleaned off lots of the gunk and grime on its way to the ground, thus appearing dark.
The leak is just in the little rubber connectors on the fuel lines so fingers crossed it’s a €5 fix.
May...
