I'm guessing most people have little bits that they don't want/need, or maybe larger bits, why don't we have a 'free parts bin', like a pay it forward type thing? We could have a single list, where/who has what and run it like an honesty box?

Just thinking next time you need that single nut/bracket/item there's a good chance we could have it? Create a list on a shared googledrive document, where members have the password to access, edit etc?

I know I've given a few things away, dash/carb parts, other have been good enough to do the same for me also.

Or will it cause the world to implode?
 
Very good idea. Especially after a rebuild there are loads of small parts, nuts, bolts, brackets etc floating about ... I know that from previous rebuild. I gave a whole Quality Street tin full of nuts, bolts, springs, clips, grommets, pads, etc to another Mustang owner who had bought literally a bare she'll, literal to nothing on it. In truth it's probably still like that ... :D

I've still got loads of little parts though ...

I guess for cars like Zs withe repro industry being much smaller, people do tend to have to refurbish a lot more than just buy new repro off the shelf. Although I am sure pmac has about three whole cars in bits in his garage.

I needed a small part for my choke cable the other week, small chance of one turning up here, they are an integral part of a WHOLE choke lever set-up. Luckily SacCyclone being the US has loads of parts available to hand and could help me out. He's got so many that he's even got choke levers/cables there broken in other area, so I was in luck. Now I'm bugging him for other stuff! :D
 
Cool idea, I'm taking loads of parts off my 280, that won't be getting refitted, and it'd be a shame to take them all to the tip. The only problem is storage space at my end I guess to just hang onto them
