Hi Guys!
Check out my new motor
Pops has been a busy bee and found me a 260z!!! RHD, UK 1978 that has been in storage for the past 25 - 30 years. The car may seem familiar to some, Bob-On did a post which lead to Pops making contact.
So happy to say it arrived yesterday, really looking forward to making a start! Hoping it won’t take long as I’m very eager to get it on the road! The car itself is looking great and very promising. Just want to give a huge thanks to Chris Vega for casting his eye over the Z and to Bob-On for making all this possible.
The car is going to be kept totally stock. It has got all the original parts with an amazing amount of new old-stock parts purchased some 30 years ago, still in the wrapping from when the first stage of its restoration was planned. My resto-mod can wait for the future; I just love the car the way it is! It has the original flattop carbs and matching air filter, the original points are in amazing nick (might have something to do with the car being off the road for 30 years!) Paint job was done about 25 years ago and looks incredible for today, it needs work as there is blistering on the roof, and few things here and there. All in all, very excited and looking forward to learning everything there is about the Z
I’m thinking a good long time studying the manual will help haha
The first thing we’re going to do is strip out the remaining interior parts, remove suspension, gear box, panels, wiring loom etc. Effectively taking it back to a shell in order check the quality of the work that has been done so far and what needs addressing. Basically just spending a bit of time working out where we are and what needs to be done body wise before we start on anything else.
I want to start a project thread with a name just like Richie’s “Project Dixie”. I want a Japanese name and am open to any suggestions
This is my first venture into cars and I am super excited to start! Pops says “patience” and “no, you’re not driving mine”
Thank you all for your past comments and help on the thread, I think we’ve ended up with a motor that has great potential. It is so nice to finally become a Z owner and be a part of the cool cats club haha!
I will start a new thread documenting my journey from “total fresher” to “Z guru” haha
Thanks again everybody for all your help and it was a pleasure to meet everyone at Oulton Park, I really enjoyed my first ever car show.
