It was oil but not as bad as it looked (thankfully) An oil sensor fault that threw oil everywhere. (I'm sure someone more technically minded will describe it better!!) but anyway not the engine

Thats what happened.
Oil pressure sender unit blew its top!!
Ergo.... oil spraying everywhere.
Good job someone nearby had a spare sender in his garage.
