Hi all,

New to the forum and also new to the Datsun scene so have 0 knowledge on them. (although my dad has had a few in is time) I'm more into the old school BMW's my current collection is

1980 BMW M535i long term project 3 years and counting lol
1991 BMW 325i Sport
2000 BMW 328i Touring
2001 BMW M5

Would like to bring something a little different into the collection but wanting it to be a rwd :D

Anyways I have always liked the look of the Datsun Z's I think they just look awesome and would really like to buy myself one so looking for some help in choose the right one, not to sure which is the better out of the 240z/260z/280z/280zx so that would be a start. Lol

I know they rust but hey which classic doesn't and I am prepared with dustpan and brush :)

Obviously price will all depend on condition, if anyone knows of one for sale do let me know.

Thanks

Think you need to decide which car you best like the look of, then aim to get that one. It will also depend of your budget. The 240Z is the origin of the species and tends to command the higher prices. The 260Z (two seater version) which is what I have looks more or less identical to the 240. It has a slightly larger engine but due to alterations to it (largely to suit the American market) it is not quite as revvy as the 240 and slightly slower off the mark. However, this is largely due to the carbs - if you switch them for some from a 240 there is then little to choose between the two cars on performance, and the 260 is in many respects a better car in terms of interior finish, general ride etc and costs less to buy. I got mine from Duncan also, and although I have spent a fair bit on it since, it has been a very good car. The 2+2 version of the 260 is a different shape and tends to sell for less money. Don't know much about the 280s so can't help you there - but good luck!
