lightwieght bonnets and bits

if you want to put your car on a diet this year then this could be just the thing. Lightwieght glassfibre bonnets(can be as light as 5 kgs) tailgates and 3 piece rear spoilers. The bonnet and tailgates are held in place by the quick release pins not supplied. I could make them to accept hinges but then the wieght is getting higher. The 3 piece spoiler is the type that is on the rear of my car pic to follow in my gallery.

I'm thinking of a lightweight front 'BRE' style spoiler and a std. looking rear spoiler - bolt on for circuit days, bolt off for everday use !
Fibre-glass or carbon fibre.....?

this is not meant to sound rude, but do you want to replace a front spoiler made in carbon which will get damaged by stones, kerbs, animals and just fitting and removing.Carbon is a lovely material and very light but the costs are high. Fibreglass can be lightweight and very cost effective. This is not to knock those that are forging ahead in the carbon parts. cheers ben

No Ben, my Z doesn't have a front spoiler and I'm considering the occasional fitting of one to aid front downforce just for circuit days. Likewise at the rear !
These would have to be bolt on and off and the attachments not be seen on the bodywork whilst the spoilers are off !
I've looked carefully at the rear hatch and it would work. At the front it's even easier !

I still want a carbon light surround (not the chromy bit, the black bit) for my 260. Any ideas where I can get one?

And maybe a bonnet, I dunno... not entirely convinced on that one.
