LED Rear lights

Hi all,

Has anyone replaced the rear light bulb for LED's on their 240Z? I'd like to know where they came from, how much they cost and how you rate them. I'm after the type that has loads of LED's with attached to the direct replacement bayonet.

Cheers

Matt

Loads available on eBay, but many from Australia with big postage penalties.
Some debate as to whether they are strictly legal, but if producing equivalent light output then shouldn't be a problem - after all, many manufacturers are now using them as standard fitment. E-marking might be a problem with fussy MOT tester...

I have a tame MoT tester who will over look stupid little things like that. I've looked on ebay but can't see for sure whether or not they'll fit etc. Could you link me one that you know about?

does anyone know if you can get LED lights for the dashboard- Mines seems to be very very dull. I checked each bulb before fitting.

I've replaced mine with LEDs, I bought the smallest ones I could find but still needed to cut them down to fit:

I also had to reverse the polarity in one or two as one of the guage lights is wired backwards to the others which is fine with incandescent bulbs but obviously no good for LEDs:

End result is it's a little bit brighter than the standard bulbs but you can't use the original dimmer control and need to install a PWM unit if you want to adjust the brightness.

No pics of the dash lit up as my phone really cannot take pictures in low light!

Being keen to reduce load on the old wiring loom I tried a rear/brake light tower type LED replacement off eBay - found the rear light ok but more directional than a bulb but the brake light performance was far worse than a normal bulb.

They look more like the ones I'm after. I bought a similar pair but won't know if they even fit right until I pick up the car.

Mattiboy, PM me your address and I'd be happy to mail it to you if you want to try it out/compare when car comes back. It definitely fits. I only bought one to test it out and frankly it's just sitting in the garage, so it's yours if you want it.

Sorry that was meant to read Mattbibbay - auto correct had a hand on that!!

Iam going to Australia in a couple of weeks if you let me know hat you want I may be able to pick them up for you? They are pretty light after all.
