Hi there folks how is it going?
I am Andy and I hail from Central Scotland. I currently own a 1984 Toyota Corolla GT AE86.I use the car for track days and also drifting.
Was debating selling the car and getting a 240 in it's place.

Key to the S30 is research, whilst simple in concept after nearly 40 years most UK cars have undergone various degrees of surgery to keep them on the road.

A "reasonable" UK car (no major rust, lightly molested etc half decent paint) will fetch £6K upwards
A "project" (bought without knowledge and prior to the "oh sh1t" moment) can fetch as little as £3K but be prepared to spend considerable amounts on getting it safe never mind acceptable.
A total restoration will cost £10-£15K and lots and lots of time, oh I mean lots (several hundred hours)

Certain parts are impossible to find (inner wings, some trim, wiring looms, dash etc) mechanicals used to be plentiful but engines and gearbox's are uncommon making the whole job more difficult

Then you have the issue that only a few hundred 240/260's still exist in the UK making it rare with a reduced(ing) pool of spares.

But get past the economics and it is one of the most enjoyable sports GT's around, with a well sorted 240 easily holding its own against "modern" cars in terms of performance
 
And performance parts are a plenty, like you asking on your other post about diffs, roll cages... As we have few cars and reduced spares, we have few prople who know and can provide a service for us. Luckily we have the US and Japan for a host of goodies we don't have here, unless imported. As you know from the spec of your car, performace costs.

Step into the S30 side, as Skiddell says, an enjoyable car and can show modern stuff its not an old MGB bumbling along..
 
Hehe I know thay are far from bumbling like an old mgb. Problem is not a lot of people realise this.

I am used to having problems getting parts for my ae86 so it would not really be anything new to me. Ideally I would want one I could get in and drive. Doesn't have to be mint.
After sale of the hachi I would likely have £6k to play with.

Would even be willing to import one from Japan
 
Im afraid you will have to spend alot more than 6k to import one from Japan............I like the twincams was always a big fan of them.

you are doing the right thing and doing a bit of homework first to find out bit more about datsuns and the problems that comes with buying them, sometimes.the best thing is to try and have a look at as many 240z,s as you can before you buy as most will need some work but you never know you might find a diamond !!!!!!!!!!!!!
