Whoever outbid me on the 260 door skins thanks for the final bid on the LH door skin as I wanted either both or nothing.

It annoys me as It never seems to work the way I think its going to.

You put a bid in and it then asks for a maximum bid. If your lucky it auto bids up-to the other persons max bid and if you are higher all well and good. It then gives the opportunity to further increase your max bid. My problem seems to be that sometimes it increases the max bid and nothing else but other times it seems to treat it as a new bid and wackes the whole lot in to the maximum. Thats what happened on the RH door skin.

Oh well!! :)

I'm not with you on this. Are you saying that when you increase your maximum (because you are not the highest bidder I assume) it automatically jumps to your new max? If so isn't that because the other bidder is already higher than your new max?

Yep, its what is called proxy bidding. Ebay automatically increments your bid up to your maximum.

Your probably right Rob I think its just that I'm crap at E-Bay. I even wait untill the last 20 to 30 seconds.

E-Bay is another one of those things I avoid if possible.

That's exactly right Rob

If you bid highest bid of £10, and someone else comes along and places highest bid £21, the current price would just show as £11, or whatever the incremental bidding is set at.

Therefore if you put max bid at £20, this would already be beaten by the previous bidder. and you would need to bid 22 or more, and so on.

It can be a nightmare sometimes, but you just have to be optimistic but affordable with your highest bid.

My tactic on Ebay is to watch it until the very end. In the last few seconds put some stupid high figure in like £500 and always guarantees a win.

.........it's quite intense though but worked on the recent door skin purchase.
