Coys Auction 7th Sept

There all super samuri bud what says on the sticker

Now can we start helping Johnny to sell the car and make suggestion this thread going off track

What would you suggest?

Ignoring the asking price.... if it was just a top money 260z, you wouldn't expect to see corrosion in the engine bay pics? It's also got a strange shaped bottom. Sorting one or both of those then think top 260 price plus extra for the samuri name, as to some it has an extra appeal?

I would keep trying it in action a couple more times
£35k starting price and hopefully it will sell

Ok, I can put Franky out of his misery now - the car is mine as from an hour ago.

It's on my drive and I have the keys.

Jonathan and I agreed a deal and we are both happy.

So I have my first 260Z.

how does it compare to your blue car?

It's more sporty, my Blue car is a 2.8 running on standard 240Z carbs and was built for mid-range. It pulls really well but power tails off at the top-end. This is more like my old car it just keeps going to 7k and it's on triples (40DCOEs).

Handling - this 260 is more 'edgy' like my trackday car - on a bumpy road it needs attention. My blue car on Bilsteins is very well behaved on the road and a bit softer.

It's loud too.

Overall this 260 is surprisingly raw - I like it.

Enjoy it Rob, I've loved it and it's rawness. As you've already found out it sounds amazing when you open it up, it's a quick car.
Attached is my last picture of the old girl

Frankly, if you were so keen to know the bidding, why didn't you watch the auction...?

As Rob says we are both happy - well mine is a bitter sweet happiness, but I am pleased it's gone to an enthusiast who will enjoy it and use it like I have and not just to a collector to hide away until it appreciates in value a bit further.

I'll still be around though and Donington will still be on I am sure, and if you need two cars anywhere Rob, I'll always Drive the orange one for you ;)

Cheers

JK.

Jonathan, you driving it in the photo.

This car needs to be driven to be appreciated - just like my old one. To judge these modified cars on appearance, condition, investment potential is not the way to appreciate them. And that's why adverts/auctions don't always work. I was a passenger in this car at the first LakesZ and it was a huge disappointment however Jonathan has transformed it and in the process spent a lot of money on it (I've looked through the paperwork later today).

I was interested to see where it got to after this thread was started, i'd no desire to watch the auction, it'd be interesting to know still without waiting till its on the internet next week?

Thanks Rob that's a great photo - and your right it was in need of much improvement when I bought it, I've given it that and enjoyed the experience. I'd confidently have done today's entire trip in that car without a second thought.

Congrats to both parties, happy ending . :)

JK, maybe it's time to find a little 1200 coupe and give it that samuri treatment ...
