Another PC Question

I'm getting fed up with my computer screens showing me adverts for stuff I've been looking at.

If I look on ebay, or booking.com for example nearly everything I go to next e.g. BT Internet mail I get reminded what I've looked at and what I may want to look at next. It's another form of irritation like cold-calling.

Also it is slowing my pc down e.g. the BT mail page - I'm waiting for stuff to load that I don't want!

I'm assuming those damn 'cookies' are responsible.

So can I dissable them but keep saved logins like my Z Club page etc?

ps - the only good thing is that my wife looked online at bras - I now get girls in bras poping up now and again.

Another thing:

My BT Mail screen has changed so I now get my emails in a format that is like my mobile phone i.e. it shows me history. So in my inbox I can see sent mail - it's really confusing and when I reply I don't know who I'm replying to i.e. it could be people in the history of the email .

And to top it all the 1st email at the top of the page is an advert which again I don't want.:smash:

EDIT: Just spent a while Opting Out of advertising - let's see if it works!

What browser do you use Rob?
I think blocking 3rd party cookies will help (without breaking the cookies you do want, like you Zclub site cookies). Do a google for your browser blocking 3rd party cookies.

If your using Firefox you could install the 'No Script' addon for the browser

this basically stops all the extraneous **** loading until you allow it too.

great for stopping adds loading and extra tat on busy websites, wont affect cookies

I'm using Chrome. Spent quite a bit of time clicking on ads and opting out of monitoring/suggesting lifestyle purchases.

However not much improvement yet. Bit like my registration to the phone preference scheme - they still keep coming.

I have won the Jehovah Witnesses at the door though - they don't come within 20 yds !

I use Firefox and use a couple of the ad blocking addons. I dont use chrome because google makes its money from advertising and doesnt always play nice with the adblockers.

You can get all sorts of addons, including downloading videos from YouTube ;)

I have chrome, and blocked 3rd party cookies ...
go to chrome://settings/content
and select 'block 3rd party cookies and site data'.
It's stopped everything advertising back to me stuff I've been looking at.

I've had the same issue, the new format is very confusing.

Try this as a fix, worked for me.
