Air filters

Have now ordered some of those end caps from zstore so will see what they are like & whether they fit my trumpets. Will also have a look at the foam filter socks at the weekend when I will hopefully be at Combe.

I was thinking the same as Ali in that these could be made & there might be a market. It's really just a lid with some filter material surely?

While, just like with metal-only screens, these are not for long trips or daily driving, their improved screening ability means they can be used for short weekend runs and other shorter duration trips.

What qualifies as a long trip though ?

Received the filters from ZStore yesterday (only took 3 days from Cali - amazing!). Fitted them this morning before setting off for Castle Combe and the car ran sweet with no performance issues. The filtration seems good enough and the outer ring is rubber so they fit tight to the trumpet. Probably wouldn't be good for desert or dusty running but good enough for the occasional use I am going to be doing. I think they look good too, certainly better than all that sponge stuff that you get on trumpet socks. Have a look at the pics & make your own minds up.

Having looked at them a bit closer, I am pretty sure these could be made up quite easily with the right materials. Might look into it now that I have some for a template.
