Right where to start.
when i was just starting out in the car world i always wanted a 240z but the chance never came up for me until the start of this year. When i found a 260z at the right money. I know its not a 240 but was close enough. :)

The trouble is before this year i got into drifting so the 260 is now going down this line.
Not sure if its a good or bad way to go but its happening.

Im not into writing all this stuff out im more into pictures of it so im hust going to try and keep the writing small and the pics big.

After a lot of looking round online and talking to people, i could not find suspension that would suit it for drifting so i got looking into converting it to run something else.
After a very short chat with the roll cage builder some one said why dont you use the 200sx stuff that you have which i thought would be a good idea. Nope i was wrong somehow now my 200sx is at the same place as the 260 and they are going to be mated.
Its going to be a real hybrid, Datsun 260z body 200sx floor bulkhead and running gear and the engine from a skyline.
This is going to turn out really good or bad. But fingers crossed for good.

I will get more pics up soon

Hi Pete welcome.
This should be an interesting build, thanks for sharing it with us.
What I would say to you is do consider the classic nature of a 260 that is now very rare. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a tastfull Hybrid with lot's of mods IMO, but remember that a fully restored but standard 260 2 seater could be worth a good 15 Grand!
Good luck with the biuld and keep those pictures coming

I like that...alot

One of my mates has mated a s13 and PA10 coupe. Basically the Pa10 body has been grafted very cleverly to s13 chassis thereby using all the goodies from S13 chassis, drivetrain and engine compartment;)

EDIT: found the link...check out the pics of how a S13 is grafted on to an old skool datsun, simply amazing build ( not sure on tyre size though?)

I understand where your coming from and this has gone through my head many times. But this car will be with me till the end.
To look at it will still keep the looks of the 260z but with a wider stance.
Just the engine bay and the underneath will be different, im going to keep the looks on the inside as standard as possible.

Just to make my self feel better about this i went out and bought a Datsun 120y this week so i can still keep a normal old Datsun

Depends what you want the car for really. If its a weekend show n shine car then perhaps keep it standard(ish) but if you are looking for a performance orientated car then hybrid is the way to go...

but remember that a fully restored but standard 260 2 seater could be worth a good 15 Grand!

Hmm, it probably will cost alot more than 15 grand for a proper full restoration:eek:..so no investment gains to be made IMHO.

No it will still be down as a 260z as the body with the vin plates will still be there.
After the car is built it will stand me more then 15 grand adding in the build costs of the 200sx the first time round.

The floor swop is going to take longer then expected now, so it should be out of that work shop and being preped for paint over christmas. Bit longer then i wanted but i cant complain i dont know many garages that would do this type of work.

Up date on my poor datsun. I some what lost interest in the car (got married, had a baby) even went as far as selling the engine and all my shiny new parts :( for lots less then they were worth. I could not bring my self to sell the car even with some good offers on it. She is still sat in my unit looking sorry for its self. But at least its a rolling shell with skyline engine mounts fitted and the 200sx floor. Its a long way off being finished but there is a plan in the pipe line to sort it.

Although now having a family a track car is not ideal, this problem should be solved on friday (my birthday) when i should be picking up a 260 2+2 :)

But that leads me to this, i need parts its going to need lots of welding so what body parts have people got? and seats, its missing the back seats and passenger seat. Anyone have any or know where i could get some?

I have a complete back seat for a 2+2 in excellent condition.
I have several front seats. Most are from a 240Z but will fit your 260Z.
Im not far from you either. Near Nottingham.

That space in front of the engine reminds me of the Mk4 Ford Zephyr V4. There was enough room for a spare wheel and more!

Should handle well.

Surely that engine position isn't ideal for drifting from a weight distribution point, it will be 50/50 if not more rear biased.

You need weight over the back end for grip. I know it sounds wrong big if you don't have grip you have no grunt coming out of the drift. And when competing you need this.:)
