260Z Carbs problem

Sooo, went and have a look, the linkages work perfect, as soon as you touch the gas pedal, the valves start moving, so they are fitted correctly..i do have a feeling that the linkage between the carbs feels a little tight when i move it, or is this normal? I took some pictures to show what i mean. Any other suggestions if it's not the linkage?

That all looks lovely and clean! Maybe they're just not balanced. You'd need to get an airflow meter to check that out.

In the second shot of the carbs, your pointing at a nut, make sure this and the one on the other end are tight.
one of mine was slightly loose, which meant the ball and socket joint was binding when moved and
made the throttle appear tight elsewhere!
If you imagine, the looser the nut, the closer the socket part of the joint in the end of the nut
is to the ball part of the connecting rod/linkage and therefore tighter

Hope that makes sense :)

You do need a little slack in between the pedle moveing and the carb linkage. If it moves imediately, as you say, then thats your problem. Also I cant see much lubrication on any of the joints. It all looks too clean. I'm guessing you want it to look clean but you do need some greese on the joints.

You could get a paint brush and cover the whole area in greese then through a bucket of dirt over it. It may not help with your problem but it will make the rest of us feel better about the look of our carbs.

If they are a little tight and stiff, is it because you've had the linkages re-plated? maybe take them off and work them until they move freely.

The joints are greased, i've put grease on the joints before i clicked the linkages on :) Everything moves freely, ill have a look if i can put more slack on the linkages then.
What is strange is that i drove it yesterday and it was fine, and after a while it came back..

those nuts are really tight!

Had a similar problem on mine a while back. You might want to check that the water pipe (the one where your pointing finger is resting on your 1st photo) is not rubbing on the shaft between the carbs. If it has worn through to the rubber, it could make it sticky stopping the shaft from rotating back when you let you foot off the pedal.

I sprayed some silicone rubber lubricant on the underside of the pipe and have had no problem since.
