I'll bring the new zed round if I get it running tomorrow as that will need a bit of detailing. Its only been in storage for most of its life so everything should work on it.

Nice looking Ghia,

Is it a 68/69 ? still got the nice bumpers but type 3 rear lights and stick on wooden dash,

If you need any bits or advice on suspension work, narrowing, lowering etc , I've had a few ghia's in my time,

I think it a '70. Not really sure what to do with it as I had bought it for someone else as they didn't have the funds. I have various options of what to do. Thank for the offer.

Been playing with the zed this afternoon and made quite a bit of progress.

Bought the car as a non runner that's been in storage for 32 years so I was expecting a few problems. The first mission was to try and get it running. Someone has already had a go as there's a new starter fitted and a long bit of pipe connected to the fuel pump. Also found it had new plugs as I went to change them. Changed them anyway for NGK as I didn't recognise the make fitted. I dipped the long length of fuel line from the pump into a can of fuel and started cranking. It backfired through the carbs so timing had to be an issue. Dizzy was loose so someone's already been down this path. Turned all one way then the other but no difference. Firing order wrong? no checked that. 180deg out, yep that's the one. Fired up a treat. not that smooth but at least its running. Topped up the dashpots and tried to lift the pistons. Front one moved up and down fine but the rear appears hard to lift although fine with the engine off!!! With it running the piston heights are different as well so this needs further investigation. Time for a little drive........ah, no clutch, pedal goes straight to the floor. I remember seeing a new clutch master cylinder in the boot so someone's looked at this too. Had a look in the master cylinder on the car and its bone dry. Lets try a little brake fluid and see what happens. Cracked open the bleed nipple on the slave and let some fluid run out, note to myself - flexi hose needs replacing soon. Pressed the pedal and it goes solid half way down. Time to use both feet, that's done it and the clutch is now working fine. Now it's time for a drive. Reversed out of the workshop, put it in first and off I go round the yard. Get back to the workshop and go to stop......yep you guessed it, no brakes. At least the handbrake worked. Brake master cylinder - no fluid. Topped it up but still no brakes. Jacked it up and cracked the front bleed nipples and pumped a bit until it started coming through. Ya, I've got brakes, well sort of. Went round the block again and it stops and goes now. Time to give it a bit of a clean as I can see nothing out of any of the windows then time to take some pics.

John, it's so satisfying to bring a car back to life. I think of them as living things and it must feel great having a new owner who will treat it to re-commissioning and a drive out.

It looks like a good one and I'm sure it will only get even better. It sounds like a narrowboat though atm. ;)
