I was just given a copy of this mag, and its a good article despite the misquotes you mention, some nice pictures. That Arizona Z car stuff really looks superb - just wish I had that kinda money to spend on my suspension set up.....

Willie, I saw you on Motors TV this lunchtime competing in the last two rounds of your series. 4th after a fight through the field and then 3rd in the next round (1st in class).

Well done (again)

Yup am up against it tried to justify the Stroker. So off with the wings now and drill a few wholes ,Magnesium wheels.Carbon fibre roll cage.Liposuction .Saunas.Take out my bones.
They say that Stroking is changing it to a mod sports series, yet you can bore out a V 8 to no limits.
I wish I had never had it in my first race cant change the clock unles you get the commitee a drink.
Thanks for support.Out next year with a few lightning ideas taken both ways.

So Willie, I'm assuming from the above that you are having to revert to a Z crank. To be honest I can understand this, re-boring is a different thing but only if you stick to 'reconditioning' limits. Also surely extensive lightening is also outside the 'spirit of the regs' unless it's your diet ;). As a comparison what spec is the red Capri, does it have a standard stroke and steel doors etc. ?

Your car appears to be very competitive and I reckon a good HSCC car/driver (e.g. Charles Barter and his 240) would still do well in that series. They have to draw the line somewhere in a classic series. I'm not having a go here Willie but your car does look quite modified compared to the others especially without it's bumpers.

I realise that you are a front runner and want to stay that way but I can also understand your competitors views on the stroker engine (and original Robello one), Arizona adjustable suspension, Fibreglass door etc.

I realise I don't know your regs or the competitors car specs but just trying to give a balanced view. That fast white Mk1 Escort must be a bit special though.

Classic regs are a problem because all the cars are different in standard spec and each person wants a chance to win his class. Also some things like brakes and suspension are safety related so need upgrade but people push the boundaries to gain an advantage.

Just think how satisfying it will be to do well without the stroker. Or take the car another stage on and go 'modsports'.
