Looks ok but what's the reserve?

Well yes, indeed, that is the question. No idea what a good condition RHD import commands in the US. Wouldn't be surprised if the reserve is five figures in pounds. I just flagged it as an interesting early JDM car.

I actually even like how it looks on the steel wheels!

Terrible colour though, eh, Dave?... :p

Looks good like that Rob without the dustbin lids!

I'd probably still swap the wheels on that JDM car for some Watanabes (or Rota RKR lookie-likies) but would definitely keep the steels.

What a nice peaceful thread this is

Anyway left at half six this morning to sunny Cambridge just above as it happens about 90 odd miles up the road, friendly guy who was right into military stuff and refurbishing his 1830 house with attached garages where the Z had lived for the last 2-3 years don't think he was to bothered if he sold it or not but he simply needed the space for one of his army lorry's, after inspection we done a deal ;) and loaded it on the trailer stopped off for BK then back to the workshop how strange to hear a standard L24 sit in and drive loved it :D:D

Spent the afternoon collecting my thoughts and trying to work out '' what have I done''

wings off and a quick clean up here and there and iv'e got the kid with new toy syndrome, what I need to do for my own piece of mind is get all the dust of and clean every thing up' ill add some pics later

I often get the 'what have I done' feeling when buying stuff but it soon passes. As long as you do your homework first it can't fail.

Well you have lots a vehicles and 3 Datsuns.(or 4 ). Your blue car is a lovely quick L series, your orange car is a wild hybrid beast so now you need a standard one. Sorted. No risk there at all and you can sell it at any stage if you change your mind.

Looks like a good buy.I do like the original colour but I am sure it will be good whatever happens to it

That looks like its its good condition. What's your plans engine wise? Push the limits on a 2.4, build a proper screamer?

I do get slight tool box lid envy, I love them as stowage compartments. Ideally you'd have an early car that had lids also!

EDIT

I actually once had a car that was suppose to one of the first but was a 73 chassis with tool box lids, maybe its not a good idea :)

The things I have learnt about Terry are that he's very astute and sensible where cars are concerned and a great engineer.

I am confident that this car will develop in a way that will be admired by us all.

No pressure then Terry.

Very Jealous of you Terry, 3 Z's, I can't even afford two, perhaps sometime, a long way down the line and I have a house and garage sorted and a few promotions and finally have free cash again.

Interested to see what you do with this.

It does look an excellent clean base car. You are succeeding in making me more rueful of my sadly (uncharacteristically) lacking prowess in the bidding process during the last few seconds! :(

Don't let the hybrid obsessives :)p) talk you into anything - I think it looks too clean to hack up too much.

Yes Terry, I had the tour, as you said really nice guy. I had a Champ years ago and given my username I have an interest in bent aircraft, we had quite a wide ranging discussion.
I wasn't sure of the legality of the flares over here.
