Which oil in 82-83 Turbo manual 5 speed transmission? [Urgent]

Hi fellas,

my shop is about to start my car up today and I don't know which fluid the 82-83 5 speed transmissions used. Does anyone know? Regular ATF or hypoid?

API GL4 75w90. definitely not ATF.

The worst thing is that using Google only creates more confusion. My gearbox looks quite similar to my old 5 speed Nissan unit. It doesn't look like a T5 at all. But then I read that there are two versions of the T5, NW and non WT, and one looks like a regular Nissan unit. It's confusing.

I've emailed Datsun Spirit, but they are asleep now

The 280ZX Turbo came with only one version of the T5 made by Borg Warner and it's a NWC Transmission.

I've instructed the shop to fill it accordingly.

Exciting for you, the T5 is supposed to be a lovely box, i have one to fit myself in my Z next year.

They can be made into WC boxes with machining the original casing, its quite involved but has been done.

I have one in my 280zx as a standard equipment

I fill it with automatic gearbox oil as required in the datsun Fsm

For all my zed manual boxes (240z, 260z, 280z, 280zx, s13, s14) I use GL4. For all diff's (except plate LSD) I use a GL5.
