Which is cheaper

It can't be a good idea to go to Car Meets and talk to other Z owners.............. Especially when the car starts to misbehave on the way back.
Talking about EFI today with JonBills who suggested moving to a modern set up so pricing it up as a project. Looked at Torqen and ZCarDepot in much the same as Robotsan.

So Torqen is £2441 and ZCarDepot is £1525 with postage (without import charges etc) Does anyone have definitive info on what I'll have to pay in charges. I've found conflicting opinions on other forums.

Was a good day out and nice to meet up. Bonus was may get financial approval from the other half as she really enjoyed the day as well but was concerned about going home on the back of a recovery truck............................ ;) 'If it gets it working properly then get it' Not sure that stand when hears the price.

Before shelling out that wedge! These old EFI systems are really easy to fault find and are extremely reliable unless you plan to modify the engine heavily ( they don’t play well with big cams or improved breathing inlet manifolds - the stock one is hugely restrictive but thats another story).

Most of the time it’s dirty connections that are the fault. As the system is all analog any increase in resistance plays havoc with the ECU. It’s worth the effort in going right through all the wiring and replacing connectors which are readily available. Other culprits are air leaks, the system is very intolerant to air leaks and vacuum loss.

BTW cold intake filter kits are a complete waste of time as they do not add any benefit to power with a stock inlet manifold as the problem with EFI engine breathing is the inlet runners. They are tiny compared to the inlet valve diameter and really restrict the air flow. Get a performance inlet and then the big sod off filter will give benefits (then you‘ll need a new EFI set up for that 😄)

Thanks All

Oder from USA is a winner then. If we go that route its still going to be an awful lot of money to get past the boss!

That's a point. Is it not possible to buy these parts from Japan to take advantage of the weak yen at the moment?

Dont forget its 20% vat and import duty on EVERYTHING, including the shipping costs.

Yes likely cheaper by a margin, but any issues you wont be sending it back to the US cheaply..

Devils advocate, seems expensive for an ECU, why get it from the states, surely you're better off getting a make that your local-chosen rolling road knows well? Given what the whole conversion will cost, you'd spend half the amount on a set of carbs and ditching the EFI? it'll make your penis larger also.

yes I buy from Japan. if you get things of low value you they don't bother with import/duty and vat. Shipping has gone up and by sea it's 2 to 3 months. There is some links to shops in the hybrid section

spent £6K on bits for the R32
