Which Battery

Mine I think is no longer oblong.

Noticed it doesn’t quite have the whiz, turns over but will not start.

280 with Jenveys high comp etc and think it doesn’t have enough on cranking to work everything else.

So what are you fellas I’m using? Any recommendations?

This one was recommended to myself, it's got CCA of 720. It's for stop/start motors, so, can take the punishment?

Got it from BBL in Bristol for £150

Yes, as per the photo. It sits a little lower than my previous battery, but you could put a rubber pad or something underneath to help with vibration - that's my plan.
Strange design really, hate the way it has a metal clamp surround, always makes me nervous

I swapped mine for a Toyota battery bracket. That frame is a stupid design.

Not only is the clamp risky for short circuits when working on the battery but so is the orientation of the posts. I'd rather have the positive terminal towards the centre of the car and away from the bulkhead. A lot of people fit a battery this way around.

Always disconnect the negative first and don't reconnect until the very end of any work on or around the battery/positive terminal, simples. :D

I’m totally with you and @jonbills on this one especially as I lacquered mine to avoid a short and still managed to get a rather large spark.

The Bosch battery I used (stock size / rating) needed the plastic at the top modified / ground away to fit the stock clamp. It has been flawless for 7 years but it also gets isolated every time the car is standing / off.
