Wheel stud size

I'm needing some longer wheel studs to accomadate my new wheels. I'm aware a few of you have put Ford studs in to save a few pennies. They seem to come in 2 sizes though. Being that I'm of a metric age which size do I want to fit into my hub? M12 or 7/16.

the standard stud is a M12 x 1.25 thread

Just gone through the pain of this.
The thread size (12) and pitch (metric fine, 1.25) is easy to get hold of, its the spline pattern and spline diameter thats the difficult bit, "modern" Nissan spline diameter is 14mm but the 240/260 needs 12.8mm.

Nismo do a set but they are not cheap, alternatively you can have the hubs drilled out to suit more available patterns but this is not without risks

Rear studs are longer than fronts and they interchange (not sure how much longer though)

There was a UK company who specialise in studs and had longer Nissan ones in stock [63mm as I recall] but I can't remember the name because I had them on my favorites list and at the moment the page is unavailable. If it comes back up I'll let you know.

That might have been trackstore.co.uk Nigel? I got some of the 63mm studs from them but they're no longer trading it seems. I think these are the same ones though:

The SS41 code sounds familiar anyway. They have a 14mm spline diameter so need hubs drilling.

Steve, care to expand on the issues you see with drilling hubs?

Just bought some from ebay 65m length, M12. They are Ford but shouldn't be a problem.

I spent ages looking a couple of years back, but in the end bought some 13.1 mm spline ones and had the engineering shop drill out the hubs to suit.

I think the s14 moved to the larger spline.

I do hear that @87 rx7 front are the same spline and longer at 47mm.

I may just order some from Zcardepot and suffer the postage/duty.
