Are you sure that's not a Bosch 040?
They have a flat bottom for in tank use whereas the 044 has a threaded connection.

Charge cooling manifold is off ready for No5 oops i mean the air temp sensor and a couple of custom freshly built mufflers arrived to go along with the planned H pipe in the exhaust

They look nice Tel, a good length.
I presume your H pipe will be front and the resonators as far away as possible from the exhaust valve?

What I mean Tel is, it's better to have any restriction as far away as possible from the exhaust port as possible.

I have driven a car with one of those exhaust control valves and they do kill the power big time.
Ok for motorway cruising I guess.

Progress ...... had the 1/8nptn boss welded into the end of the vacuum balance tube after the throttle bodies and drilled 'n' tapped the inlet manifold post charge cooler, its all back on the car now ready for wiring in, the exhsust mods are next

Now thats the two sensors fitted and wiring done back to the ecu so started seeing how the two mufflers fitted for size, little bit of tweaking and welding to be done then to decide where to put the H pipe

Not a lot of room under there. I'm guessing the "h-pipe" is just a very shot bit of exhaust tube joining the 2 sections together? Or do you have a more elaborate plane? The x and H sections I have seen have the exhausts a fair way apart. What the science in these and their purpose?

Room is not to bad John as i inverted the drivers side floor pan long ago, the science is to with cylinder pulses hitting each other and damping out the noise and taking out the raspyness, as with other things on this car i have copied what bmw done and they use a H pipe towards the front end near the cats but i dont have them and quite a large one at that

Ok seeing as it was nice and hot today decided to do a bit more exhaust pipe modifying just to warm myself up a bit, had a look at a bmw H pipe location and it is right at the gearbox cradle so i thought i would copy that, job went quite well allthough it is quite hard to starret cutter in the side of a hard stainless pipe, heres the story in pics

Took the car out for a drive after .......and WOW what a difference sounds deep and smooth no raspiness and huge low down torque gains your in 6th gear so quick, i genuinly cant believe the improvement and that was without any clamps on the system just waiting for the mikalors to arrive

As always I'm full of admiration of your work Tel. Is this going to give you another 5bhp?

Still struggling to understand why you want to replicate a BMW in a Datsun but it makes life interesting and keeps you occupied.

Rob i'm not trying to replicate a bmw in a datsun i would just rather use expensive tried and tested ideas and components and as you say keeps the mind active, i still like my datsuns Rob as they are, took the blue one to a japanese cars only show last sunday and they must have liked it
