Hi,
Just wondered if anyone knew what diff was originally fitted in what car and if they are interchangeable as a straight swap.
I understand the 240z has a 3.36 ratio but not sure on the type (R180 / 200??) and whether this differed between market places (e.g UK / USA)
Is the 260 the same since the 260+2 has a higher diff ratio of 3.7 (not sure on the type of diff)
Would say a 240 US diff swap straight into a 260+2 without prop / drive shaft changes??
The only reason I ask is that I have a 260+2 with considerable backlash and a slight whine (probably due to the PO tendency to track the car a lot) and was looking at what other alternatives there may be. I know my diff could be dropped and taken for a refurb but I can't see many parts being available off the shelf without machining new components and then the big question would be will they be set up correctly (pre-load, tolerances etc)
Hopefully with the knowledge you guys have I may be able to go searching for a good known diff as a replacement.
Many thanks in anticipation, Luke
