What did you do to your Z this week?

Dropped in on a local car meet for a few hours on Saturday - Secret Society Car Meet near Knutsford. Convenient given it was just off the main road between home and where I store the cars. Mainly modified and tuner stuff, so I created a scene when arriving in the Z! YouTuber AdamC was there and there’s a good chance my swift, noisy departure in the afternoon will make it onto the resultant video.

Also came away with this:

Took off the clutch master cylinder and the brake servo so I can prep for paint.
Remove clevis pin, remove 4 bolts under dash, remove servo.... sounds easy, Haynes forgot to add the balance on your head with your feet in the air whilst getting rust in your eyes, some sort of masochist yoga move.
Also pleasant surprise after taking the exhaust completely off, is it's a full stainless which fits the standard manifold. So this saves me some money which I'd already set aside mentally.

You're right, but it looks like it should be so easy....

Fitted my newly acquired stacks to the SUs, did some port matching. It's a pity they'll be hidden inside the airbox.

About the zclub airbox: what thread are those bolts for the latches? Not metric for sure 😑 stopped me from fitting the airbox.

Awesome thanks, will have to pop down there when I next get a day off, always good to have recommendations! If the guy in Weymouth is still about let me know, photos look good! Thanks again

I'm 10 mins away from this place, send me a message when you're planning to and I'll pop down with you!

They look great. How much did that all set you back if you don't mind me asking?

I've been toying with the idea of getting one of those home zincing kits to do all the little bits and pieces like this.
Not at all. Normally done by weight and last time I had all the nuts and bolts and engine bay bright work done for £50. This time I had a bunch of anodising and polishing done as well as the bits in the photo plated at the same time so it came to £115.

Not bad at all! Thanks

After over two and a half years in hibernation, the Datsun is rolling and looking forward to some fettling and new parts to be fitted.

Two of my sons helped with some basic recommissioning, pumped out half the old fuel and added fresh plus ethanol additive, sparks out to spin the engine to get some oil pressure before going for a proper start. I forgot to reconnect the coil + terminal which caused some initial angst!
But then she fired immediately and ran quite nicely, although initially she didn’t want to idle once warm without the choke, but was better 15 minutes later when i turned her off.
Parts to fit or have fitted, Z story exhaust, restored HS6 carbs to go on with a accelerator cable conversion, new 60 amp alternator and then a rather expensive electric power steering kit from the states, which will vastly improve the overall driving experience, but especially at low speeds and parking!
Plus the upgraded new front brakes I fitted before her layup still need to be properly bedded in.
