At the grubbier end of the scale...
I got my bonnet back from the blaster man.
He couldn't do the centre of the panel for fear of distortion.

so 2.5 hrs with various sanding tools later:

Nearly ready for a little bit of welding on the front corners.

Nothing, as it's been sitting in my mate's mum's garage since August 7 ... I drove it over there fine and it then refused to even turn over. So we pushed it in and there it sits ...
Having an extension done on the house and the space in my garage is occupied by lots of stuff for the next month (again).
Not sure on what is causing the starter not to turn ... maybe a fuse? Battery is fine of course. Fusable link is still good ...

I’ve not done anything with it for another month …

(I think it’s the starter) …

Tried giving the starter a whack?

Yesterday my 4/70 HLS30U project car's bodyshell came back to my matchbox-sized lockup garage.

Streeks Transport and Recovery Ltd https://www.streekstransport.co.uk/ (recommended!) picked it up from Fourways Engineering in one of their covered trailers and brought it back to me. Great service, and the extra care in dealing with a dolly-mounted bodyshell - handling like the proverbial shopping trolley - was much appreciated.

I'll start bolting parts onto it soon, but the first jobs will probably be firewall sound-deadener pad sections (ugh), tunnel jute (ugh) and re-fitting the original diamond vinyl trim (always a struggle). Tunnel trim will have the extra challenge of dealing with the RH to LH switched handbrake lever position, which will be interesting.

The paintwork is amazingly good. I just know I'm going to scratch it while working on it...

Agree with the "ugh" on the tunnel jute and vinyl, etc. Generally not fun messing about with spray glue and attempting to get all that in the right spot while avoiding wrinkles!

Hopefully a problem I'll have to look forward to later this year with my project.

Looks like a great paint job! Avoiding touching the paint is not easy (I'm nervous everytime anyone else comes within 3 feet)

What is the colour code you went for?

What is the colour code you went for?

It is #918 'Grand Prix Orange', and - like #920 'Safari Gold' - it is difficult to photograph. Big differences between natural light and artificial light. Confuses my camera phone into making it look almost fluorescent.

Is there a reason Alan that we mostly see the Z432s in 901, 903, 905 and 918 ?

Were the PS30s limited in colour range options compared to regular JDM and export choices ?

PS30-SB 'Fairlady Z432-R' road cars were only supplied in one colourway (#918 G.P. Orange) but PS30 'Fairlady Z432' was available in the same colours as other contemporary Japanese market S30-series Z models, so there was no restriction.

I think two factors influence what you see: First, the relatively low sample group (what was originally made, and what cars are left) and secondly the fact that certain colours were just more popular at the time.

#901 Monte Carlo Silver was particularly popular as it was a new metallic that 'popped', and suited the car. #904 Grand Prix White was Japan's national racing colour, so got the patriotic and practical (cooler in Summer) vote and #920 Safari Gold was seen as a fashionable colour in the late Sixties and early Seventies period, with the Italiante influence (Ochre). #919 Le Mans Yellow was used for one of the first published Japanese road test magazine articles, printed in full colour, making it popular. #907 Grand Prix Green was used for a full-colour fold-out poster in a Japanese magazine in early 1970, so again influential. #905 Daytona Red and #918 Grand Prix Orange simply appealed to the sporty image of the car.

Other colours were added to the range as and when they became available. Probably the rarest colours for the 432 in period were the metallic Blues which were offered for only a relatively short window.
