(Beavis and Butthead mode on) “Hehe, he said ‘self sealing nipples’, hehehe”
“Hehe, ‘superb pump’, hehehehe”

(If you don’t get the reference, you are clearly not Gen X/older Millennial and therefore suck) :p

I was waiting for that Richie and ....

I tried to get my car started with no success.

By introducing some resistors to the injector circuits we theorised that it might get the injectors actuating, but alas, no joy. I am seriously considering binning off the injection system altogether and moving to carbs.

On another note, I may have a lead on another Z :willynilly:The only thing better than 1 project is 2 projects ;)

So I know you are not supposed to do this, but I find old brake fluid is the best killer of of dandelions that annoyingly find their way between the driveway slabs. Just gave them a little shot each 2 days ago and today they are no more!!!!

do they reharden the lobes? after a few regrinds surely you will be down to the soft stuff hence the need for the regrind?

I don't know TBH. Since it's been 3 years or so since they ground it and only 3 lobes have damage I'm unsure what the cause is. I'll ask them if they have an opinion when they give me a call.

Put a bit of mileage on the ratty car over the weekend with Silverstone Saturday and Beaulieu on Sunday. Also took the opportunity to collect a complete (but stripped) l28 engine, r189 diff, headlight buckets and nose cones plus couple of brake boosters. Surprising what you can fit in the back of a zed. I may have to sell my van as it would appear to be not needed.

Well the Ratsun is living up to her name and looked perfect minus the two shiny bits under he bonnet! ;)

I hope you didn’t have to brake too hard Johny!! [emoji33]

I got my cams back from Kent Cams and put the repaired one back in.
I concluded the damage to the cam was a combination of not quite enough oil and the valve springs are a bit too stiff.

I've ordered new valve springs, (Schneider 68022). In the winter I'll be rebuilding the head with the new spring and I'll drill out the head oil restrictor in the block a bit.

Well, "I couldnae take it no more".... After seeing my Z in such a pitiful state following the weekend of soggy mud ridden camping at Silverstone, I just had to do something about it!... A good few days this week of cleaning off mud, re-undersealing and polishing brightwork and body detailing have paid dividends.. :).. Still more to do, but almost there!..

Done quite a bit the past few weeks... New front shocks, rear pads, handbrake cable, thermostat, wheel alignment and general tune up. Dif, Gearbox and Brake Fluid changed. New gear stick boot rubber. A little snagging here and there, renewed finished on centre console which I'd scratched installing last time!.. and at last finally found a centre catch for the lid..

Tim, your car looks wonderful! It's a credit to your detailing and Mr Riddley who used it no matter what the weather.
