What did you do to your Z this week?

This is more like "what did you do this past month"...

Put black and silver plates on it seeing as it's now past the 40 mark and registered historic.

New corbeaus, sadly sit a little high though. Currently deciding what to do there.

New wheels, could of done with 16s but I actually quite like the look.

BC coilovers, happy but had them sitting way too low. I'm finding it's actually only the exhaust scraping so I'm going to get my mate to weld up a new piece from manifold back and run it higher.

All new poly bushes throughout!

Needless to say it handles very differently now.IMG_20190711_135050.jpg IMG_20190711_135128.jpg IMG_20190711_144046.jpg IMG_20190622_163857_367.jpg

Can you mount the seats direct to the car without any runners? I've done that before.

Can the runners be adjusted in any way, as in redrilling the mount holes? Or as Rob said, doing away with the runners altogether?

Cheers for the advice guys.

The seats could be mounted without runners, would be difficult to access the fixings from underneath the seat though I think?

I could save about 10mm by removing the bracket entirely and mounting the runners directly to the car, but again access would be difficult. The reason for this 10mm is a protruding nut, which in fairness can be resolved by drilling a hole to accommodate it. This would only lower the front though.

Mark, the Corbeaus are equally low profile in fairness!

I think the 280z mount bars are significantly higher than 240z/260z. Corbeau sent me the wrong bracket initially and pre 76 cars seem lower?

Yes mine were a pain to access the nuts/bolts. Most compromises are difficult.

Just measured the spare runners/bracket I have and it's looking like I would save 34mm which is quite significant in my mind. Might get the passenger seat out tomorrow and see how it fits.

The only other issue I can see with not having runners is that the seat won't mount far enough back for me, being 6"3.

Good choice

The tyre sidewall makes a huge difference in how much arch gap you have. Most owners opt for a 50 or 60 profile and this fills up the arches nicely.

Car looks amazing and handles much much better I suspect after the modifications ?

It's a completely different car. Even the seats make a big difference when you're motoring round an island because of how fixed you are.

I do love the wheels :) maybe should have gone for a 50 tire but what can I say, I'm awkward and wanted to be a bit different

Finally sourced replacement electrical connector for cold start valve and fitted it... It has only taken me a year to get round to it! See my other post for more details. Also just ordered up a rocker cover gasket as mine is leaking pretty badly.

What size tires did you go for? I think they look brilliant.

Thanks so much! They are 205/45/15 Toyo Proxes.

I actually had the car sitting lower on them but unfortunately just wasn't practical at all and even ended up beaching the car at one point...

Nice wheels!

Are you keeping the side trim Warren?

I really like the direction you're going with the car but I think it would look better without it.

Honestly, I don't know anymore. I hated it to start with, but now the cars otherwise looking good it doesn't bother me so much.

I will probably end up removing it over winter, means getting the holes welded up and some fresh paint on it too though. With this I'd be removing sidemarkers, aerial, the lower trim below the door and filling in the rear bumper holes too.

Enjoy the summer first, then toy with it in the off-season :)
