What did you do to your Z this week?

Been working every day on my blue car and it looks no different but I know it is.

MoT tomorrow or Thursday.

Headlights now adjustable - removed bowels today and sorted the adjusters. Also changed the bulbs.

Horn now works - poor earth.

Column nacelle now fits and doesn't limit headlight 'dip/main beam' operation.

Front tyres don't touch front valence on lock (changed tyres for slight smaller ones). Lots of castor on this car.

etc etc etc.

It's a good job I'm retired but the showery weather is a pain (working on the drive).

Very satisfying but at 65 I'm aching a bit. Some of the positions I had to get into for heater connections/controls and dash bulbs were ridiculous!

Blimey Rob, that's a bit extreme! Was that so you could squeeze yourself up under the dash to change the instrument bulbs?

Chuffed my car is now MoT'd, so all the aches and pains were worth it.

Most issues have been electrical - something that lets these old Datsuns (and other classics) down.

Rob, have you thought of getting an easy up gazebo, a decent quality one for working on the car outside? with 2 sides you can effectively extend your garage.

Faffing about with my wrap around indicators, have now zinc plated the reflector that was rusty,
its by no means perfect, and had i spent more time rubbing it down it would be much better,
but I dont require perfection, plus the garage was bloody cold! and at least now it reflects, after a fashion! :)

The worst thing I have done to mine is said good bye & am truely heart broken & I know I will never be able to have another, especially not one like that one. At least the new owner had the courteous to hire a covered transporter so I could not see it leaving. On the up side I know it has gone to a loving home, what a great guy & his Z mate, its got all the right bits & will be a minter within his hands + it will be used unlike with me it was stuck in the garage since the Silverstone meet 2007 ! So really I did not deserve to own it anymore.

Last night I found out something very spooky & that is that I purchased my first 240Z NDG 343M on the 24th April 1987 & my last 240Z was transported from my house on the 24th April 2017.

What did I do today? I sat in it for the very first time!

Considering it's been in it's new home for 3 days that's pretty poor on my part. There's been a lot going on though.

The fact I've never even sat in a 240Z before means it was quite an occasion!

I'll start a proper thread, but here's the homecoming:

Mine went for its MoT and passed with no advisories this morning.

Still not been in to the paint shop tho which is really frustrating me now as my guy is really poorly and just can't work. Any longer and I might have to go somewhere else.

Also ordered some replacement track rod ends. Great price and service from Mr Feeney - can't compliment him enough!

Last night I fitted the replacement gear lever bushes and pin for some nice new ones with the brass bushes on the pivot pin. All feels lovely and tight and selecting a gear is much smoother and easier now.

Feel your pain on the time lapse. I made one when I stripped the 1jz engine down. It focused on my coat when I started it so everything was out of focus after that!
