I'd flip those straps upside down to put the pointed end of the hooks facing down.
Well, I finally fitted my refurbed fuel tank back in to my 2/2. Evaporust did the trick over 4 days inside, turning occasionally, looks brand new inside. I then flushed it with water, dried it fully using a hair dryer and long flexi pipe to get it right inside, then a Diesel flush to prevent flash rusting.
I did a little underseal touch ups to the boot floor whilst it was out, nothing bad under there but I guess when the restoration was completed, they had not bothered with the fuel tank.
As my fuel feed and return were the same size 8mm, I have put a smaller pipe (4 to 5mm) at the end of the return which should increase the rail pressure slightly and help refill carb bowls faster.
All back in now with new pipes clips and repainted. It's only got 20 litres in so far without leaks, but will slowly increase the volume until sender and filler are covered and get confidence that I have no leaks!
I think you’d have to go back to about 1971 to do that!
I meant the ones in the last pic below where the seat cushion goes on the seat he's making in 2021!
There should be a restrictor of sorts on the end of the fuel return hard line on the front/top of the engine.
I see! I guess its that way for a reason? I do like how they make the seats so they can get as low as possible.
Just looks like it would damage the seat base over time, or even the backside of the driver!
it'd be easy to swap around, they're also just working out the shape to the design I'm after so I'm not even sure if that's how it stays.
Took the car for a run yesterday. Realized how dusty it was from being in the garage so gave it a wash.
I backed the car out for the first time since the football World Cup in 2018, in readiness for the garage to be used for watching the Euros and shooting some pool!
I bought one of those CTEK battery conditioners and the battery flies like new now charged, (I thought I might have damaged it letting it stand without use). A few goes with Easy Start (and sprinting from the engine bay to the ignition before it evaporated), and it started reasonably easily.
The 280ZX is road legal Again!
Took the 260 to my local Imp Club meet last night.
So I backed it out of the garage for the second time for tonight’s game, concentrating on the passenger side mirror as I had plenty of room on the drivers side……….well, if I’d remembered to close my door that is !!!! F#%*€$<#%?!!!!
Dale, I feel sick for you mate. Just put the car in the garage and leave it for a week. You will have got used to the situation by then. I'm sure we have all had those moments when 'shit happens'.
Fuck m8, I'm sorry too. Gutting that is
Years ago I would have tormented myself about it but recently I have certainly learned that (exactly how you put it Rob) ‘shit happens’. I took a deep breath, called myself some derogatory words and got the beers out.
I can take some comfort that the door will have needed some work soon enough anyway, there some rust under the window strip and around the mirror mount, and the window mech needs stripping and sorting, so now I can add the new damage to that list.
Feel for you
Oh mate. I feel bad for you.
When I make a balls up on my cars - My wife ends up coming in the garage to tell me to shut up. Your neighbours must’ve learnt new words …..
Dale, just watched something on TV which is quite appropriate - ' it's not what happens in life it's how you deal with it'.
