What did you do to your Z this week?

The S12 boxes have a 0.76 5th ratio IIRC ,

My engine comes on cam at around 4k so if I can cruise on the motorway just under that its pretty quiet and when i put my foot down i can overtake easily,
I built my car to enjoy the roads I have near me , nice A &B roads in the mountain's were you spend most of your time in 3rd & 4th and you need good brakes that don't over heat ,

Everyone has 'their' perfect set up, doesn't mean anyone is right or wrong , as long as your having fun that's what matters

Exactly the setup I've always built on all my toys. Exactly like Devonshire A+B roads. If I'm worrying about motorway work, I'll take the daily and sit at 80 in 9th gear doing about 1500rpm.

Drove the car for the first time since probably August last year. During my suspension rebuild I swapped back to a 3.9 from an 3.7 and the car is so much more alive.

3.9 is good. What size tyres?

I have always wondered what the fuel tank capacity is and now I know. It’s 57.83 lts or 12.72 imp gal including filler neck and that’s to about a couple of inches below the cap.

Oh and 17.49 lts gets you to just above empty. Another 19.79 lts gets you to just below half and 20.55 gets you brimmed.

Replacing a section of the firewall is seriously annoying me at the minute (mostly due to my lack of ability) so I managed to distract myself for most of the weekend by putting up new lighting in the garage. In spite of having the garage rewired last year I managed to woefully under provision the lighting circuit with just a few 45W 4500 Lumen battens and at night it's like workin' down pit (a nod to my Midlands upbringing :) ). I've just added 5 x 60W 6000 Lumen battens and now I can actually see how ridiculously untidy my garage actually is at the minute! Super pleased with it. These are linkable units from Screwfix so the 5 are chained together off 1 x 3A plug.

As usual, nothing. But I did brush some dust off the cover so that’s progress.

Currently redoing the storage in the garage and sorting some stuff out. Even repositioning the TV ...

I do need to get the thing running and moved as I want the space inside to change the clutch on the 944 (a long job). I am NOT doing it on the drive ...

Heres a useful little calculator to show the speed impacts at different revs for different final drives, gear ratios and Tyre sizes

I took off my carbs to be refreshed by a professional and forgot they were water-cooled so, when the coolant dumped out I jumped a mile.

Looking at renewing the fuel hoses as well as going to have to tackle cleaning some of the coolant system (see the sludge in the pics).

First time I took mine off, it shocked me too! When I had ZTherapy rebuild them, I got them to block the inlet holes ... and my new thermostat housing doesn’t have the outlet on it. Can’t see the point of it over here.

Engine is a standard l26. The new owner just wants a car he can use and not worry about too much. It's very near to being finished and just have to use it for a week or so to make sure I'm happy with it. Wheels/tyres are 15x8.25/205-50R15. 20mm offset and running longer studs and a 10mm spacer.
