What did you do to your Z this week?

Put the front suspension back together with new struts, mounts, bump stops and bearings and got it back in the car.

Also found out that the front strut brace won't clear the engine and unsure if I have space to bend it. Any ideas on how to measure clearance to bonnet?

Thanks!

I got the car with them, was told they were lowering springs. What makes you say they've been cut? Really don't want to spend more lol :(

The spring isn't 'finished' flat at one end. It just looks like someone has got an angle-grinder to it. It will work ok I think. I had some Tokico springs and they were the opposite to yours - far too manTok f, Tok r..JPG y coils.

Mine have a different part number to yours though, 5022 seems to be for lowering springs according to Mr Google.

The car drove ok before but did have a couple of blown shocks so hope that was age related rather than springs!

I'm not saying they are the same springs just that they seem to have been chopped. They'll be ok.

I will be fitting a T5 to the Z so was preparing a transmission crossmember that needs prepping.

Removed the old bushing by firstly using a drill to release the rubber and inner sleeve, worked out brilliantly...in the past i have used a blowtorch and its smelly business.

I then started to carefully saw out the outer sleeve of the old bush without cutting into the crossmember and used a chisel to remove the sleeve..did a great job ....only to remove the new energy suspension bushes from the box to see they get fitted with the original outer sleeve in situ..:smash::willynilly:

Hope your day was more productive :EXTRAlol:

Spent the day making the tags on the tailgate so I can mount it onto hinges. Fibreglass tailgates don't have them.

Been there. I also lightened the hinges because for a FG hatch they seemed ridiculously heavy duty. Daft but I felt better after it.

My wiring project is finished apart from 'wrapping the loom'. Everything works and I now have an oil warning light, and charging light (260Z Voltmeter). ]

When I started my engine the voltmeter read 12v and the charge light didn't dim. I've no ammeter now. I checked and double checked my wiring and was sure everything was ok. Changed my 280ZX alternator with a similar one off my Samuri and 'hey presto' it charges. So my alternator may have been faulty for a while without me knowing (not so obvious with an ammeter). For many months I've hardly used the car - charged the battery, run it for a while or driven it for about 5-10 miles and put it away. I must have been doing this with no charge! I love my 'charge light'.

Squeezed past the Zed to get a meter reading in the garage. EXTRA:D Otherwise... nothing.

I don’t even have the joy of doing that, our meters are in a kitchen cupboard. I have been doing a few jobs in the house so had the task of taking all the tools back out to the garage to make Mrs uk66 happy ... and I saw my Z. Under its cover. It was cold. I came back inside.
