Voltage issues?

Bit of a strange one with other halfs Z31 NA it has a number of minor possibly related issues

1/ as soon as the ignition is turned on the voltage indicator (which used to work fine) zaps straight over to the right (off the max v scale)

2/ when heater blower is turned off the engine idle is as lumpy as hell and the engine revs sine wave up/down between 300 and 750, turn the blower on the idle evens out at 1000 rpm when not in drive

although not the end of the world it can be a bit of a pain when it isn't up to temperature as it stalls rather a lot

Any suggestions gents I'm think in terms of voltage regulation or lack there of

Cheers

Your volt meter sounds like a bad earth. Use another volt meter and check the battery readings when its running. If its that high maybe the voltage reg in the Alternator.
As for the heater making it run rough, it maybe linked to the first plus they have a vaccum attachment. Maybe one of the hoses have split
